I co-founded Aston OD with Michael in 2003 based on our shared vision for using what we know about effective team working to improve patient outcomes and staff well-being in health and social care organisations.
It’s been a real pleasure to see the way in which our credibility and reputation for integrity has grown over the past 11 years and to work with some wonderfully supportive colleagues. Our motivation has always been to enable our clients to develop their own capacity to create positive, sustainable team based working cultures. In fact I still spend much of my time in the NHS sharing knowledge and skills with the growing number of in-house Aston Team Coaches.
My early career focused on learning, development and OD consulting. Clients and employers included IBM, Tube Investments, Guide Dogs for the Blind, BP, Texaco, BT, O2 and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. Michael and I co-authored Building Team Based Working back in 2004.
I’ve since worked in over 50 NHS trusts and healthcare organisations. I’m personally committed to every client and very keen to share experience with all enthusiasts of team working, positive psychology and human flourishing.
These days my time is split between supporting organisations to develop in-house capacity and developing our on-line team offerings. Although face-to-face development work is preferred, I am increasingly excited about the opportunity to support large numbers of teams to become more effective through the on-line Aston Team Journey, which brings together team diagnostic and development tools to support team leaders at all levels. The Team Journey is also part of the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Programme offered by the NHS Leadership Academy.
